Chinese tech giant Xiaomi celebrates the onset of 2020 in style by unveiling its new Mi Watch Color smartwatch device. Xiaomi recently released a promotional teaser video of their latest gizmo without revealing any details or product specs.
However, after watching the video you do get some idea on what to expect in the new Mi smartwatch. To start with, Mi has replaced the squared design of the Mi Watch that was introduced a couple of months ago, with a circular casing in the Mi Watch Color.
The Mi Watch Color somewhat resembles the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active and has two crowns on the right of the dial. The smartwatch comes with what look like replaceable straps. According to Gadgets360, the Mi Watch Color will have a variety of strap choices and three color options of black, gold, and silver to choose from.
Albeit the teaser doesn’t divulge any details on what OS the new watch runs, considering that Mi Watch ran Google’s Wear OS, it would be surprising if Xiaomi doesn’t carry the trend further with the Mi Watch Color.
The 36-secod video released by Xiaomi shows that the gadget comes equipped with standard smartwatch features such as heart rate monitoring, activity tracking, sleep tracking, customizable watch faces, voice assistant support, and app notifications.
Leaked screenshots of the retail box posted on social media indicate that the watch has a 1.39-inch, 454×454 pixel AMOLED display along with a 420mAH battery, which as per company claims gives an impressive 14 days of standby time.
Although the smartwatch goes on sale on January 3, there’s no word yet on the pricing or availability in other regions outside China. However, the Mi Watch Color seems to be a more affordable version of the Mi Watch and is more focused towards fashion. Loaded with features such as water resistance up to 50 meters, GPS, and NFC, the Mi Watch Color is the gadget to watch out for in 2020.
